CSM Trust Scholarship 2026

About the award

The CSM Trust is delighted to offer nine ?5,000 scholarships for exceptional students enrolling in 2026 on a mining or geology related course.

The scholarships will be awarded at the panel¡¯s discretion to the applicants considered most deserving of the award. The successful candidates will be expected to take part in activities to promote studying mining or geology at the University of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ.

The scholarships can only be awarded to students who have an offer of a place to study at Camborne School of Mines at the University of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ on one of the following programmes:

  • MSc Exploration and Mining Geology
  • MSc Geotechnical Engineering
  • MSc Mining Engineering
  • MSc Minerals Processing
  • MSc Mining Environmental Management

The scholarship will be awarded as a reduction of the tuition fees.

Once you have received the offer of a place to study, please return to this page to access the scholarship application system and apply for the award.

Scholarship recipients are selected on merit, based on the information supplied in the scholarship application. To apply, you must:

  • Complete and submit an online application form . You will need your Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ student number to submit your scholarship application.
  • You will be asked to upload a covering letter - a personal statement (of up to 500 words) that responds to the following: How will this scholarship help you to pursue your studies and career and encourage other students into the mining sector.

You should apply at the earliest opportunity following receipt of your programme offer.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome by email two weeks after the application deadline.

By applying for this scholarship, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

  • By submitting an application, you consent to the University of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ sharing relevant personal information (such as your name, programme of study, and contact details) with the donor (London Metal Exchange) and members of the scholarship selection panel for the purposes of assessment, administration, and post-award engagement.
  • Scholarship awards are conditional upon successful registration at the University of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ for one of the eligible Camborne School of Mines MSc programmes starting in September 2026.
  • Scholarships are only available to applicants confirmed as eligible for home fee status.
  • The scholarship is not available for MRes, PGDip, or online programmes.
  • If you defer your offer, the scholarship will be withdrawn and cannot be carried forward to future years.
  • You may not receive more than one scholarship from the University of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ. If you are eligible for multiple awards, you will be granted the scholarship with the highest value.
  • It is your responsibility to inform the University if you are in receipt of any external funding prior to enrolment. Please email a copy of your award letter to Admissions at pg-ad@exeter.ac.uk.
  • The University reserves the right not to award all scholarships if suitable candidates are not identified.
  • The scholarship will be paid as a tuition fee discount
  • If you withdraw or interrupt your studies after enrolment, the University¡¯s Student Finance Regulations will apply regarding any repayment or other financial requirements. See: University of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ Student Finance Regulations
  • You may be invited to provide a photograph and a written or video profile for use in promotional materials related to the scholarship and/or study at the University of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ.
  • You may also be asked to attend events or participate in internal and external communications activities related to your award.
  • By accepting the scholarship, you agree that the University may contact you after graduation to seek updates on how the scholarship has influenced your career or academic journey.
  • The University reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes will be communicated to applicants promptly.
